OPERATIONS JOB MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Operations Manager
DEPARTMENT: Operations/Management
STATUS: Part-time hourly (nonexempt) 25 to 40 hours/week
TYPE: Ongoing
REPORTS TO: Owner
BENEFITS: Flexible scheduling
SALARY: Varies based on experience. Ranges from $18-$20 per hour.
JOB SUMMARY:
Flower Power Gardens is a woman-owned, LGBTQIA-friendly fine gardening and landscaping company specializing in native plants. We support diversity of life by designing, installing, and maintaining sustainable and pollinator-friendly landscapes while offering a living wage to our crew members.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the management of all of our business operations and processes, in coordination with our Crew Members that are responsible for the installation and maintenance of our unique and sustainable landscape projects for our clients, our Crew Leaders who work closely with our hands-on owner, and our founder and owner of the business. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of organizational operations through the utilization of effective methods and strategies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning, directing and coordination of client work
Support sales and marketing activities
Scheduling of client work and crew member activity
Invoicing and accounts receivable
Managing cash flow
Reviewing bank and financial statements, and utilizing financial data to improve profitability
Controlling operational budgets and inventory
Human Resources - hiring, payroll, marketing and recruiting
Assisting in the development of strategic plans for operational activity.
Implementing and managing operational plans.
Improving processes and policies and implementing procedures as needed
Performing other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise/direct crew members to complete jobs as outlined by owner and client
Interact with clients as needed to answer questions
Be aware of daily schedule and prepare tools and materials as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
General understanding of fine gardening and industry operations
Ability to communicate with coworkers and clients in a friendly and effective manner
Attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills
Flexibility and the ability to multitask
Critical thinking and problem solving
Knowledge of business and management principles and practices
Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices
Knowledge of human resource principles and practices
Knowledge of project management
Information technology skills
Experience in operations management
Ideal candidate has minimum of five years of business operations and management or other relevant experience
College degree in business administration or management
Spanish language skills helpful but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Workweek is Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday work
Daily and weekly schedule varies based on business needs

CREW MEMBER JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Crew Member
DEPARTMENT: Operations/Grounds Crew
STATUS: Part-time hourly (nonexempt)
TYPE: Seasonal
REPORTS TO: Crew Leader/Owner
BENEFITS: Flexible scheduling
SALARY: Varies based on experience. Ranges from $18-$20 per hour.

Our Crew Members are the core of our small, diverse team, responsible for the installation and maintenance of our unique and sustainable landscape projects for our clients. The Crew Member role provides a great opportunity to work closely with our hands-on owner, learning as they work and gaining experience with the different aspects of sustainable, fine gardening.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plant, prune, weed, and water garden beds and landscape vegetation
Rake, shovel, clip, and use other garden tools
Move plants, pots, and equipment
Move and spread topsoil and mulch
Use organic materials and practices to treat disease and pests
Perform regular and seasonal yard and garden maintenance
Install and maintain hardscaping features (rock gardens or borders)
Ensure company tools checked out in the morning are returned in good working order at the end of the day; clean and maintain tools as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate with coworkers and clients in a friendly and effective manner
Attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills
Be flexible, reliable, and consistently on time
Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Ideal candidate has minimum of one year of landscaping, gardening, or other relevant outdoor experience
Fine gardening, plant and pest ID, and hand pruning experience preferred but not required
Spanish language skills helpful but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and pulling
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
Must be physically able to operate power equipment
Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Workweek is Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday work
